Week #7 Game Analysis/Predictions
Open Dates: ATL, GB, CLE
| ARIZONA vs DALLAS |
Top |
Arizona Preview:
This is looking like a pretty good spot for J. Plummer. We
Know most weeks he is a reach, but we do like his chances this week to post
250 + yards and two td's. The big cardinal offensive line should be able to
handle the smallish cowboy defensive line which in turn should open up
holes for M. Pittman to run wild all day long…. we look for Pittman to have
over 100 yds. and a score. obviously, if Plummer is effective throwing as we
expect, then you can be certain that D. Boston will have a monster game and
be heavily involved. Even T. Hardy and F. Sanders are not bad reaches this
week as the Arizona offense should put up 2 - 3 tds this week.
|
Dallas Preview:
Believe it or not, but R. Leaf may actually start this game for
the cowboys and it is not entirely a bad spot for him to post moderate
numbers. The cardinals secondary is very beatable and J. Galloway should be
able to get deep on the cardinal DB's. This game should be fairly close, so
Emmitt Smith will get his carries and yardage, while quite possibly finding
the end zone. You have to think 80 + yards should be attainable. As far as
other cowboy players I have two words…. bench them!

| BUFFALO vs SAN DIEGO |
Top |
Buffalo Preview:
A big match-up between R. Johnson and D. Flutie should be
entertaining to watch, but look for the San Diego defense to be fired up for
this one and cause a lot of problems for the buffalo offense. The good news
however is that if buffalo is going to score is will be via the air, so Johnson
will post average numbers in the 200 yard range with 1 - 2 tds. E. Moulds is big,
physical, and fast…but he will be against R. Mcneil who has had a pretty solid
year, so he might not go off, but he will be active on short slant patterns to
take pressure off R. Johnson. ditto for J. Riemersma who should be more
involved in the game plan again due to the SD pass rush. T. Henry will find it
hard going against this SD defensive front and active linebackers led by Seau
so if you have other options I would play them. L. Centers should do his usual
damage catching out of the backfield and could surprise with a good game.
|
San Diego Preview:
This is the game D. Flutie has marked on his calendar the day
he signed with San Diego….and he will not disappoint. Look for Flutie to throw
for 225 - 250 yards with 1 - 2 td's throwing and possibly another running. As for
L. Tomlinson he is looking real good as he will receive 20 - 25 carries and
against this porous Bill rush defense he should be good for over 100 yards
and 1 - 2 td's, you just have to play this guy. Both C. Conway and J. Graham have
been taking turns with big games, but buffalo has two decent corners who
have the ability to shut them down in Clements and Winfield, so this could be
the breakout week for F. Jones. Look for Flutie to connect with F. Jones for
60 + yards and a td.

| INDIANAPOLIS vs KANSAS CITY |
Top |
Inianapolis Preview:
Let the fireworks begin…. this game should be a high
scoring fantasy dream led by the big three. P. Manning is looking great in this
game even without a second viable receiver. Look for manning to throw in the
275 - 325 range with 2 - 3 td's. M. Harrison is without a doubt the best fantasy
wideout in the game right now and he should continue to be a busy receiver
against a secondary which is giving up plenty of yards and scores, look for
a big game and quite possibly a long td hook up with manning on a play action
fake to E. James. If the colts are smart they will run james all game long
which will lead to big numbers for the edge…over 100 yards is a lock and 1 td.
even M. Pollard and K. Dilger could get involved in the scoring frenzy, so they
both are not bad reaches at all.
|
Kansas City Preview:
With the colts most likely up in this game, the chiefs will
be forced to pass to catch up. translation: T .Green has a chance for a good
if not big game. look for 250 + yards and 2 scores for the struggling QB. Derrick
Alexander started to look healthly last week and he has an opportunity to
continue his scoring ways this week against a very beatable secondary. It
looks like M. Minnis and C. Thomas will split time making niether of them a
great play….look elsewhere. However, T. Gonzaldas who is always a good
option, could really explode in this one, look for 80 + yards and a score. Priest
Holmes has been running well lately and he could continue against
the colts, the only fear is that he may be taken out of the game on the ground
but he will still be active in the pass game to take pressure off of Green.

| OAKLAND vs PHILADELPHIA |
Top |
Oakland Preview:
This is a tough spot for R. Gannon as he will be facing a
Philly defense that is playing real well right now, on the road in a difficult
place to play, so look for modest numbers from the usually dependable
gannon. Obviously, this does not bode well for T. Brown and J. Rice, both who
will be covered by B. Taylor and T. Vincent, two good cover corners. Rice
could have a chance against Taylor who sometimes gambles, but rice lacks
the breakaway speed he used to have so he is still a reach. With Wheatley
unavailable, the burden of the run game falls on C. Garner, but the eagles
defense should be able to contain him, although he will be very active in the
pass game and could do damage there off a screen out of the backfield. The
Eagles linebackers are good at covering the TE position so don't expect much
from R. Williams. S. Janokowski could be a good play in this low scoring affair.
|
Philadelphia Preview:
The Eagles are coming off the most important regular
season win in a long time and could be in for a letdown. D. Mcnabb will do
what it takes to win this game and that could be with his feet more so than
his arm. Look for average totals of 220 pass yards and 60 + rushing with a td.
J. Thrash and T. Pinkston will be shut down by C. Woodsen and E. Allen, so the
main man will be C. Lewis who should be Mcnabb's "weapon of choice" (all due
respect to fatboy slim) and he should have a good game. Also, look for C.
Buckhalter and D. Staley to continue sharing carries which reduces both
their fantasy values.

| JACKSONVILLE vs BALTIMORE |
Top |
Jacksonville Preview:
This will be a difficult game for the Jag offense, so
don't expect much out of M. Brunell. with F. Taylor not in the game, the
Baltimore defense will put pressure on Brunell all game and probably will
cause some sacks and turnovers which ultimately will determine the
outcome of the game. J. Smith will be blanketed all day by C. McCallister,
so if anyone is going to do something it will be K. Mccardell against D. Starks
who can be beat. K. Brady will also be needed, but to count on him on a weekly
basis is a risky proposition, so start him only if you really need him. The Jags
will start S. Mack in the backfield, but he will have no room to run, so if you
have other options I would bench Mack for the week.
|
Baltimore Preview:
E. Grbac has been dinged all week and there is a chance
that R. Cunningham might play…but right now it looks like Grbac and he will
put up average numbers, in the 200 yard range with a TD. His main target this
week will be the ageless S. Sharpe who continues to produce. Q. Ismail will be
covered by F. Bryant who will cause him fits, so a real good reach this week
could be T. Taylor who will be matched against A. Beasley who is tough but
likes to gamble…and can be beat. T. Allen says he will play but look for Jason
Brookins to once again get the call and surprise with 70+ yards and a score.

| MINNESOTA vs TAMPA BAY |
Top |
Minnesota Preview:
Every year D. Culpepper goes into the the Tampa Bay game
and on paper does not look like a favorable match-up fantasy wise, but he
usually ends up posting good stats. With that said look for culpepper to once
again perform well and rack up 250 + yards and account for 2 total TD's. Doug
Chapman will start again for the injured M. Bennett but do not expect much
production against Tampa Bay's defense who have been challenged by coach
Dungy earlier in the week. R. Moss and C. Carter, both face tough CB's this
week, but moss is simply "due" for a TD, so start him and watch him waltz into
the end zone. B. Chamberlain could breakout of his mild slump with an active
game this week as Culpepper's safety valve. He had 88 yards in the first game.
|
Tampa Bay Preview:
B. Johnson will be able to move the ball against this poor
secondary of Minnesota, however Keyshawn is nursing a minor injury but he
should play and produce. Johnson will also look for J. Green on a deep pass
pattern and may in fact hit it for a big score. W. Dunn also is questionable
to play, but if he does he should have good numbers in the rush and especially
the pass game. If Dunn can't go, then M. Alstott is a great play to plug into
your line-up.

| CINCINNATI vs DETROIT |
Top |
Cincinnati Preview:
J. Kitna could actually surprise this week against this
depleted Detroit defense ( although they are getting healthier), so don't be
shocked if he puts up 250 yards and a score. However, the Cincy offense this
week will begin and end with C. Dillon who should be in good shape with the
lions starting LB's out to injury. look for 80 + yards and a score or two from
dillon. D. Scott should be covered by B. Westbrook who is back from injury,
so look for the speedy P. Warrick to make something happen on the turf, not a
bad reach this week.
|
Detroit Preview:
C. Batch has been on fire the last two weeks, however he will
be without G. Crowell for the rest of the season and unfotunately this is a
lethal blow to his value. J. Morton will be double teamed as Cincy will dare
Batch to beat them elsewhere with the youngster L. Foster starting in place
of Crowell. J. Stewart is out with injury, so L. Warren will fill in and could
make for a sneaky start against the Cincy defense, but we still think he is a
reach at this point.

| SAN FRANCISCO vs CHICAGO |

San Francisco Preview:
J. Garcia has been inconsistent this year, but he is a
gamer and most weeks he will produce…but not this week. Garcia will face
a new and improved Bear defense that right now is playing as well as
anyone in the league, so look for 225 - 250 yards and a td from Garcia.
G. Hearst and K. Barlow will both find no room to run on the Bear defense, so
along with splitting time they are each not looking good here. T. Owens is a
must start every week regardless of match up….enough analysis! J.J. Stokes
continues to disappoint and look for T. Streets to start getting more pt in
the offense. Although start each at your own risk….not recommended!
|
Chicago Preview:
J. Miller has a chance this week to post some decent totals
against this beatable yet slightly underrated defense. 250 + yards and a TD
seem about right. A. Thomas is a strong play and will be given the rock often
as the bears try to control the game tempo. Thomas has a big size advantage
over the small Niners DL. however, coach Jauron says J. Allen will be still
be involved…we don't but it! start the A - Train! Dez White will start along
with M. Booker but look for D. Terrell to be involve in the mix and both he and
Booker could have an impact on the game.

| NEW ORLEANS vs ST. LOUIS |

New Orleans Preview:
Look for a high scoring game…A. Brooks will throw for
275 + yards and account for at least two TD's. Joe Horn will be quiet due to
A.Williams covering him, so W. Jackson is a good reach this week…in fact he is
our reach of the week…Jackson will make an impact with 80 + yards and a TD.
TE C. Cleeland has been playing well but we just can't see him going off. Ricky
Williams will be productive in both the run and pass game, so he will be active.
|
St. Louis Preview:
Again, with the game expected to be high scoring K. Warner
looks as good as usual, maybe even slightly better so expect good to great
numbers from Warner 285 - 350 yards and 2 - 3 TD's are well within reach. T Holt
is due for a breakout game, as is I. Bruce, so both are strong plays although
the Saints defense will be keying on them in the pass game….but so does every
one else. T. Canidate will start again for the injured M. Faulk and on turf this
guy with his speed is always a threat to score. Look for multiple big plays by
the ram offense….so start them all! A solid reach this week could be A. Hakim
who will work on the nickel back and cause speed match up problems.

| NEW YORK JETS vs CAROLINA |
Top |
New York Jets Preview:
Vinny Testaverde will not have to do much in this game, so
his numbers will reflect that and he should end up with 200 - 225 yards and a
score being a strong possibility. The game plan will revolve around C. Martin
running between 25 - 30 times and he should have success against this weak
Panther defense and behind his mammoth offensive line. Also, look for L. Coles
to make one big play, and if you need a reach this week…A. Becht could
surprise with a good game, as he is a hot receiver right now in this offense and
he is active around the goalline.
|
Carolina Preview:
C. Wienke has been struggling lately and this will most
likely continue on Sunday. with a limited run game, the defense should tee
off on Wienke and create some turnovers. "Moose" Muhammad has been quiet
and A. Glenn will continue to keep him down. W. Walls could make some noise
over the middle where there is a slight weakness in coverage, but overall
do not expect much. D. Hayes has a good size match-up but Wienke might not
have time to find him. At RB, Huntley will start and could have mild success,
but he will be taken out of the game with Carolina playing from behind.

New England Preview:
Tom Brady has been going off the last two weeks and
believe it or not he has a chance this week as well, look for 275 + yards and
2 td's. T. Brown, D. Patten, and even T.Glenn are all solid plays, but T. Brown
is the most likely to succeed with a good game. A. Smith may have a difficult
time against the Denver DL, but he is always a threat to score a td. TE Wiggins
is a viable option at the goalline, but don't believe the hype…look elsewhere.
|
Denver Preview:
B. Griese has been a major bust to this point (although not
entirely his own fault…see injuries), but he looks good to us this week at
home against this defense. Ty Law will cover R. Smith which should be a good
match-up, you start him anyway. E. Kennison is a decent reach due to the fact
that if he does not produce he probably will be benched…now there's some
motivation. D. Clark has finally emerged and is badly needed. Gary and
Andersen will split time and together should total 125 + rush yards, but who
will get the bulk of the carries? At this point, we say Gary!

J. Fielder may actually have an opportunity to do something
this week…as usual he won't set the world on fire but he will account for
2 TD's…you could do a lot worse….a decent starter. L. Smith will be given the
chance to shine in this game, expect some success both with the run and the
pass. J. Mcknight could take W. Williams deep and is a good bet to score while
Gadsen is kept under wraps by s. springs.
|
Seattle Preview:
M. Hasselbeck is expected to start, but he could be in for a
long afternoon against this aggressive Miami defense. Don't look for much
from him. D. Jackson and rookie K. Robinson will be shadowed all game by Sam
Madison and P. Surtain…two of the best CB's in the league, so the solid reach
could be B. Engram. also, look for the TE's to be involved in the Seattle game
plan. S. Alexander is also not looking good as usual, the dolphin d is solid
against the rush, but at this point unless you have a better option, you play
him!

Barber….both of whom should be running crazy all over the place. The Giants
should be able to move the ball on the ground at will, so A. Toomer will be
quiet, also he will be matched up with C. Bailey. Hillard and Jurvecious make
interesting plays, especially Penn State "Joe" who fellow alum Collins seems
comfortable throwing to him.

Washington Preview:
Not much analysis needed….this team is bad!!! T. Banks
should not be starting in this league, nor on your fantasy team. S. Davis will
not get the ball often enough to make an impact, and Gardner and Westbrook
will not be able to get open against the giant secondary. Expect a long
afternoon for this bunch.

Tennessee Preview:
This should be a low scoring tough AFC Central match up.
S. McNair will try not to lose this game, and thus will not do much fantasy
wise. E. George will find very little space available to run against the
Steeler defense, who are playing at a high level right now. D. Mason and Chris
Sanders will struggle with the phyiscal Steeler DB's. F. Wycheck will be
involved and is a decent start by default.
|
Pittsburgh Preview:
Much like McNair, K. Stewart will simply be asked not to
lose this game. Bettis will run, run, and run some more and might find success
against the small Titans DL. as for H. Ward and Burress, they will try to
create more space for bettis by streching the field. Burress may surprise by
beating D. Jenkins on a post pattern.
