Just some last minute thoughts before your drafts…………
Eagles sign Antonio Freeman. This should boost McNabb a little bit on your chart. Deshaun Foster hurt his knee and will miss opening day. We have put the all in one draft sheet up on the web site. Look on the pre-draft report page at the top of you'll see a link "Download Draft-Pack". (Join now to get access to a Goal Line Back exclusive!) Click that and you are good to go. You can walk into your draft with this one sheet of paper in your back pocket and a pen. You will have everything you need. It's always fun to be relaxed and confident while everyone else is rummaging through 3 magazines. Here one last look at preseason. Next week most starters will only play one quarter at most. Steelers vs Lions Randle El continue to impress. Hines Ward had an emergency appendectomy which could make him a starter. He's still no higher than your 3rd or 4th receiver. James Stewart played well before a minor knee injury took him out of the game. Az Hakim and Schroeder both had decent games. This Lions team is going to struggle, only take these guys late! Saints vs Bengals Deuce McAllister looks real good. He would be a great #2 back on your team and may end up a #1. Third round is not too early for him. Aaron Brooks is in the second tier of QB's for sure. Once Warner, Manning, and Garcia are gone, you can grab this guy. Their defense does not look good so they should be in plenty of shoot outs. Corey Dillon is the 4th best running back in your draft. The Bengals are really running the ball well this preseason. Don't forget, this guy had over 1,500 yards of offense and 13 TD's last year. Redskins vs Buccaneers Rod Gardner had an early TD. He has the best pedigree of the group in the "fun and gun". I'd make him my #3 receiver. If you are in a big league and are forced to draft back up running backs, take Travis Stephens late. Pittman always gets hurt and Stephens will produce. Look for Ken Dilger to have a decent year. Jets vs Giants Big night for Tiki Barber. They should be behind in games more this year which makes him more valuable. I still grudgingly would make him my #2. I'd prefer he's my 3 or 4. Don't go too crazy for J. Shockey. He does look great, but is only a rookie. There's a time and place for everything. That is a make or break pick if you grab him early. Curtis Martin will not loose playing time to Lamont Jordan. Martin is a very safe pick who always produces and never gets hurt. Dolphins vs Texans Jonathan Wells looks to be the starter for the Texans at running back. Still only a 3 or 4 back on your team. Ricky Williams, Corey Dillon and Curtis Martin make up the 4th, 5th and 6th best running backs. Ricky offers the biggest upside and risk of the 3. Chris Chambers looks poised for a good year. Bills vs Colts Moulds should bounce back this year. Bledsoe has some good weapons up there. Price game on strong last year. Take him as a back up receiver. Travis Henry had a rough night. I still have him as a number 2 back. Harrison looks great. Q. Ismail left the game with an elbow injury, x-rays were negative. With Rhodes gone for the year and E. James coming back this is getting a little hairy. Colts could be throwing a lot. Cowboys vs Falcons These guys each knocked the others starting QB out (Vick and Carter), though neither is seriously hurt Emmitt and Troy Hambrick both looked good. If one gets hurt the will put up real good numbers. Antonio Bryant is now a draftable receiver. With the Rocket gone for the year, he has to play. I would take him as a #4, you may be surprised Willie Jackson has scored a TD in his last 2 games. He will be the go to receiver there. He's a legitimate number 2. He's only limitation will be his QB. Warrick Dunn looked good and Duckett looked bad (7 carries 0 yards). Dunn will give you big weeks and also disappear on you. 49'ers vs Raiders These teams both look to be pretty sick of preseason. Very boring game. Don't forget Charlie Garner. He is obviously better for a yardage league. They always pull him near the goal line which is the only thing holding him back. A great number #3 back and a decent #2. I love the 49'ers defense. Most people are not high on them so you can get them late. They are very underrated. A very young, fast, aggressive group. Cheifs vs Seahawks Shaun Alexander is not going to let you down. Injury should be your only concern. The guy had over 1,600 yards of offense and 16 TD's without starting the whole season. If you like to gamble and go for first or last like I do. He's the 3rd overall pick in the entire draft. After Faulk and Warner are gone, I'll take him. D. Jackson appears to be their number one receiver. The Cheifs need Tony Gonzalez back. This is effecting everyone's production. Vermeil and Tony spoke this week, but nothing has been resolved. Keep a close eye on this. Don't forget, P. Holmes did lead the NFL in rushing last year. He may not be glamorous, but you only need production. I have him as the 7th best back in my mind. Broncos vs Cardinals Clinton Portis fumbled 3 times. I know this looks bad, but he also average almost 6 yards a carry. He will still win this job. I will gamble and take him as my #3 back. Greise put up a lot of yards and Sharpe had 5 catches. Cardinals have no choice but to stick with Thomas Jones. If you get him, you will have a starting running back in the NFL. That's the best I can say right now. David Boston is as good as any other receiver in the draft. Rams vs Chargers It looks like the Rams have packed up the starters early this preseason. You couldn't get much out of this game. Brees looked decent for the Chargers. Tomlinson did not play. Titans vs Vikings Titans sat 6 starters so we didn't get one last look at Eddie George. I know we all wanted one. He is a tough choice this year. Conversly, McNair put up very good numbers the second half of last year. Erron Kinney had 5 catches but I still only want him as a backup TE. Moss and Culpepper looked good. Michael Bennett is the one we have to figure out. He has a lot of upside and finished last year strong. Ravens vs Eagles Todd Heap looks ready to have a good season. Jamal Lewis looked good last week but did not play on the Philly turf for obvious reasons. Todd Pinkston appears to be coming on. With Antonio Freeman coming in now the waters get muddy. The only Eagles I would go after are McNabb and Chad Lewis. The rest are late round picks. They are going to spread the ball around this year. Even in the running game the carries are going to be divided. Good luck, www.thegoalline.com theGoalLine.com is not in any way affiliated with, endorsed or licensed by
