Free Agent Pick-Ups
The most VALUABLE Pick-Ups who are most likely available in your league
QUARTERBACKS
- CHRIS CHANDLER (ATL) - This guy just keeps on producing week-in and week-out. He is still healthy and in running game of M. Smith is taking pressure off of him. He is a solid pick-up.
- DOUG FLUTIE (S.D.) - This guy is simply a winner and similar to Chandler, he has L. Tomlinson who is more than capable of taking the heat off of Flutie. Also, Flutie is starting to get contributions from all his receivers.
RUNNING BACKS
- A. THOMAS (CHI.) - As predicted, the "A-Train" will be the starting running back eventually, but this weeks breakout performance will make it hard for coach Jauron to not do it sooner. His O-line is above average and his remaining schedule is not tough against the run. Go get him!
- R. HUNTLEY (CAR) - With T. Biak going down with a broken ankle, this gives Huntley the chance at being the starting back, that alone gives him value. He should also get all the goal line carries.
- D. CHAPMAN (MINN.) - I don't know what is with M. Bennett, but all I do know I saw Chapman hit the holes harder and make good decisions on the field. D. Green wants to win now. Analysis: Chapman this year, Bennett next year.
- JASON BROOKINS (BALT.) - T. Allen went down with an injury (it may not be serious) but Brookins is bigger, faster, and younger than Allen, so you would have to think he will continue to be in the RB mix.
- L. WARREN (DET.) - J. Stewart has an ankle injury that very well may keep him out this week. Warren makes a sneaky play against Cinn. This weekend.
WIDE RECEIVERS
- D. TERRELL (CHI.) - It's all about opportunity…and Terrell will receive plenty of that now that M. Robinson is out for the season. Terrell has big play ability and should be utilized down at the goal line due to his great size advantage over most DB's.
- R. GARDNER (WASH.) - Gardner had his breakout performance this past weekend, but you could see leading up to this week that T. Banks prefers him over Westbrook. Don't expect 200 yds. Every week, but Gardner makes for a solid #3 receiver the rest of the way.
- D. HAYES (CAR.) - With M. Muhammad constantly drawing the opposition's best CB…this leaves Hayes with an opportunity most weeks to produce.
- MATTHEW HATCHETTE (JETS) - With Chrebet having concussion problems which could sideline him for a while, someone has to step up. Remember, the Jets were happy when they signed him over the summer.
TIGHT ENDS
- A. BECHT (JETS) - Finally, Becht was active at the goal line with 2 TD catches and it seemed like Testaverde was looking for him as his safety valve.
- ALGE CRUMPLER (ATL.) - Alge made a big catch for a touchdown and showed some good speed in the open field. He could surprise the rest of the way.
- D. CLARK (DEN.) - We were big on him early in the year, and now he seems to be coming through the offense really needs him, so look for Griese to rely more on Clark.
